| Thank you to all who attended the 2009 Partners in Environmental Technology Technical Symposium & Workshop hosted by the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP). This year's event set a new attendance record of more than 1,130 registered attendees! The final attendee list, including on-site registrants, was e-mailed to all attendees.

| | SYMPOSIUM HIGHLIGHTS PLENARY SESSION AND PROJECT-OF-THE-YEAR AWARDS The opening Plenary Session program Tuesday featured our distinguished Plenary Session speakers, including Dr. Dorothy Robyn, the new Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Installations & Environment; James B. Balocki, Chief, Environmental Community of Practice for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and Dr. Peter Kareiva, Chief Scientist and Director of Science for The Nature Conservancy, who addressed emerging environmental challenges facing the Department of Defense (DoD). SERDP and ESTCP Principal Investigators who have helped DoD achieve its mission while improving its environmental performance also were honored as the annual SERDP and ESTCP Project-of-the-Year Awards are announced. SERDP Project-of-the-Year Award Recipients TECHNICAL SESSIONS AND SHORT COURSES The Plenary Session paved the way for the start of the comprehensive technical program. Technical sessions highlighted research and innovative technologies that are assisting DoD to address increasingly complex environmental challenges. In addition, short courses offered unique training opportunities on recent advancements in select technologies and approaches in environmental restoration and munitions management. Speaker presentations for technical sessions and short courses are available under the appropriate option of the Agenda tab at the top of the page.FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES On Thursday during the Symposium, the Executive Director of SERDP and ESTCP conducted a session providing a summary of SERDP and ESTCP program development and opportunities for interested researchers to conduct research and technology demonstrations. EXHIBIT HALL
This year’s Symposium & Workshop featured the popular poster sessions and exhibit booths and showcased a number of technologies and scientific advancements from a variety of environmental research programs over two days (Tuesday and Wednesday). Attendees had an opportunity to learn first-hand about ongoing and recently completed SERDP research projects and ESTCP technology demonstrations.
